Elsewhere: Darien Holds Budget Hearings Wednesday on Plan to Exceed Tax Cap

Nov. 3, 2026

Darien residents will get two chances Wednesday, Nov. 4, to speak up about next year’s town budget, The Batavian reported Monday, Nov. 2. Both hearings are at Darien Town Hall, 10569 Alleghany Road, Darien Center.

The 7:40 p.m. hearing covers a proposed local law that would let the Town Board adopt a 2027 budget whose tax levy goes over the state tax cap. The 8 p.m. hearing is on the tentative budget itself.

The general fund and highway budgets together come to $3,817,442. The proposed levy of $476,435 is $131,813 more than this year’s. Planned spending on machinery and equipment drops to $170,000 from $290,187, while snow removal is budgeted to rise to $186,419 from $171,275.
