Privacy
Plain-language notice for readers and customers of The Alden Echo (Alden Echo LLC). This is not legal advice.
What we collect
- Account info you give us when you register: email, name, and a password (stored by our auth provider, not as plain text on our servers).
- Delivery address and phone when you order print home delivery or ask us to call you about the paper.
- Payment details for subscriptions and ads are handled by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on aldenecho.com.
- Messages you send through Contact, tips, event submissions, or advertising forms.
- Basic site use such as whether you are signed in and how many free articles you have read (meter), kept in your browser and/or our systems so the meter and paywall work.
How we use it
- To run your account, subscription, and print delivery.
- To answer tips, corrections, and other messages you send us.
- To process payments and prevent fraud (via Stripe).
- To keep the free-article meter honest and improve the site.
We do not sell your email list. We do not run third-party ad trackers on the reader site for behavioral ads.
Who helps us
We use trusted processors to operate the paper online, including hosting (Cloudflare), authentication (Supabase), and payments (Stripe). They see only what they need to provide that service.
Your choices
- You can update account details while signed in, or email us to correct something.
- You can cancel a subscription through the Stripe customer portal link we send, or by contacting us.
- You can ask us to delete your reader account; we may keep records we need for taxes, delivery, or legal reasons.
